Best foot forward…

The first few walks will have to be retrospective. I got the walk going before the blog! Actually the walking is easier than the blog – at least it is atm. Maybe I should mention that I’ve walked quite a bit of this wonderful coast path over the years, but to make it a proper challenge I felt I needed to do the whole damn 630 miles again with the new focus. I could well live to regret this decision but anyways….

25 July 2017 a hot sunny day and in company with Tom. Parked at Holywell Bay, NT car park, right on the path. We walked towards Perranporth beach to meet Julia, Rosie and Darcy. They were doing a charity walk 100k for Kirstie and we went to cheer them on for a few miles. Poldark fans will recognise this beautiful location. Fabulous cliff top views. We found some bird carcasses and rings; later discovered they were from racing pigeons, presumably falling foul of a hungry raptor. 2 miles done but it’s a start and now only 628 to go; how hard can it be?

Holywell Bay

Who recognises this from Poldark?

L to R Darcy, Moi, Julia and Rosie. Walking for Kirstie

Why?

Retiring didn’t seem like an appropriate word for me. On a whim one day I decided I wouldn’t work any more and handed in my resignation. “what will you do in your retirement?” people asked. Good question! The answer was that I would carry on with what I did normally but with extra time to do it. When I thought more deeply about it seemed that I should have more of a focus for life after work. A challenge maybe? So there it was……. I’ll walk the South West Coast Path. Amongst my leaving gifts from my colleagues was THE book. So now I’ve got to do it………
